The place to be on the U/AZ campus
Worship: The United Methodist Church has its own student group at the University of Arizona! Student worship is held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights at First United Methodist Church on the corner of Park, right across the street from the Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall. Students from all faith backgrounds are welcome to attend. Students gather to participate in a short worship service that includes a message from Reverend Dee Dee Azhikakath. Rev. Azhikakath is the full-time minister for students, and comes up with great messages to help students get over the Wednesday hump by renewing their faith. After the service, students enjoy a home-cooked meal—and what college student could pass that up?
Community Service: The Wesley Foundation could also be your chance to get involved in the community. Students provide after-school tutoring to Tucson children, provide assistance to area churches, and go on amazing mission trips.
Spiritual Development: Besides community service, Wesley can also provide spiritual development to students. Small groups of students form L.I.F.E (Living In Faith Everyday), groups that meet weekly to discuss many issues relating to their faith. Students participate in a variety of retreat trips to ski, meet students from other churches, participate in crazy scavenger hunts across town, or just go play on the beach. So if you’re looking for a rocking way to jumpstart your involvement in the community and with other Christian students on campus, look no further than the Wesley Foundation.
Wesley Foundation: The University of Arizona Campus Minister is Rev. Dee Dee Azhikakath (deedee@email.arizona.edu; 520-623-7575). Dee Dee's office is in the Campus Christian Center adjacent to First Church. The Campus Christian Center snail mail address is 715 N. Park Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85719.
